Here are the 2 methods to add a friend to your Close Friends list in the Facebook app for Android:

i. Method 1

1. Open the Facebook app.
2. Tap  in upper right corner > Friends
3. In the Friends tab, tap the Friends button next the friend you want to add to your Close Friends list.
   
4. Tap Edit Friend List.
   
5. Select Close Friends, and then tap Done.
   

ii. Method 2

1. Open the Facebook app.
2. Tap  in upper right corner > Friends
3. In the Friends tab, tap the friend you want to add to the Close Friends list to view her/his Facebook page
4. Tap the Friends button > Edit Friend List
5. Select Close Friends, and then tap Done.

Note: The above steps were tested using the Facebook app (46.0.0.26.153) for Android.
