Social media can be a bit of a bear pit – it’s safe to say that, if you’re a regular user, you’ll probably come across people whose opinions you disagree with or that you’d rather not have reading your posts or commenting on them.
Fortunately, it’s relatively easy to stop them doing so. On Facebook, you’re able to block other users – which means they won’t be able to interact with you at all.
Here’s a simple guide to blocking – and unblocking – people on Facebook, whether you access the site on your computer or your smartphone.
From that, click on Privacy Shortcuts. This opens another drop-down menu, from which you should click on How do I stop someone from bothering me?
This reveals a message saying: ‘You can block someone to unfriend them and prevent them from starting conversations with you or seeing things you post on your Timeline.’ Underneath this is a box - type the name or email address of the person you want to block into this box, and click on Block. Select the specific person you want to block from the list that appears and click Block again.
If you can’t find the relevant person using this method, go to their Facebook profile page. On their cover photo, you’ll see a series of buttons, the furthest to the right of which has three dots on it. Click on this, then click on Block once more. A pop-up will open asking you if you are sure you want to block the person. If you are, click on Confirm.

To unblock someone, follow the steps above up to How do I stop someone from bothering me? Under the box you type in to block someone, you can click on View All Blocked Users.
Once the list of blocked names comes up, click on Unblock next to their name, and they’ll be able to see your posts again.
